With 2021 now in the books, Epic Expeditions is now looking ahead to our 2022 season (with some chill time and lots of coffee mixed into the off-season 🙂 ). What a year we just had!
Although, let’s be real: 2021 was another complex and challenging year for the tourism industry. There were Covid variants. There were constant changes to the rules regarding international travel and border closures. Flight cancellations. There were some logistical headaches for sure.
But 2021 was also the year that we ran more tours than any other year previously – a feat we are very proud of.
Our K2 Base Camp trip was a huge success as was our newly launched 13-day Kyrgyzstan itinerary led by the legend Ralph Cope. Here are a few shots from the Kyrgyzstan trip:
Taking a group out to K2 Base Camp and back was a highlight of my guiding year and I am stoked to get back out there again in 2022 (get in touch soon if you want to join that one – the trip is nearly sold out).
You can read more about this year’s K2 Base Camp Trek in this article we did in collaboration with the rad folks at Grayl.
Check out the video below to get a taste of what the K2 Base Camp Trek looks and feels like!
We also got back to the Hunza region a few times for tours in the spring and fall, and we ran our other great Baltistan/Skardu area 15 day Trekking Amongst Giants tour as well.
We work with some truly special individuals in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan – so a special shout out to our team there for crushing it in 2021.
The final tour of the year – our October Discover the Hunza Valley tour – was a whole lot of fun with trip participants coming from nine different countries. We had a great combination of fine weather and golden Hunza fall foliage and the whole team of participants were able to cross the Passu Glacier and go to Patundas in clear weather. Stoked.
So what’s on for 2022? Many things! So. Many. Things.
Many of our 2022 tours are starting to book up and we are gearing up to launch a new itinerary by the end of the year. Our first tour of the year will be in Iran in May – which has been a long time coming since the last tour we tried to run there got canceled at the start of 2020.
As we have now entered our 5th year of operation – I wanted to take a minute and thank all of the clients who came on adventures with us in 2021. You guys made it possible for this tiny adventure tour company to survive this Covid era! Cheers to that.
