Pakistan season. For us here at Epic – no other destination we travel to is quite like it. For months and months in advance of the first departure, we are preparing for what feels like at once our Super Bowl with a little bit of Spartan battle preparation thrown in.
This year we have more trips than ever running – often simultaneously – and the level of detail required to pull off a fun, safe, and smooth expedition-style trek over 21 days is something we have all hands on deck for.
The people who come to trek, travel, and experience this raw land with us in Pakistan come from all over the world to share the journey together. This trip is likely to be one of the most challenging and rewarding active holidays they have ever done – and we intend to show up for them every step of the way.
This year’s team(s) also SHOWED UP in a huge way and made for an incredible team dynamic. This team truly bonded – perhaps unlike any other group we have had before it. Through the endless boulder fields, glacier systems, weather changes, high mountain passes, and meadows of wildflowers – this team showed me exactly why I find this job so rewarding.
To everyone who came along for the wild ride that was our 2024 K2 Base Camp season (and for those still yet to come!) – thanks for showing up open-minded and truly ready to experience the mountains of Pakistan. It was a pleasure getting to know the team in-depth over the last 3 weeks. We hope the good memories of what you experienced stay with you forever (and that any parasites that might have been acquired disappear forever 😂 !).
A big shout out to all of our hardworking staff in Pakistan who make all of this possible. Day and night these guys are working to ensure the Epic machine rolls smoothly and man, did they deliver this year. Cheers guys – what to say, you are all legends!
With the majority of this season’s K2 and Snow Lake trips now in the rearview mirror – below is a photo gallery from our early July team to K2 Base Camp led by me (Chris) and Pema Chinyam.
